The Best of Harry Styles Fashion, From Lace Matching Sets to Lavender Nail Polish

If, five years ago, you wrote off Harry Styles as just another heartthrob destined to be lost into the void of boy band has-beens, we have some news for you. Styles has turned out to be one of the most—dare we say?— stylish celebrities of our day. The 26-year-old musician and face of Gucci knows how to work a bespoke lace matching set (and that’s more than we can say for ourself).

Of course, this influence doesn’t come without its own share of controversy. Most recently, the Fine Line singer has been the subject of heated discussion for wearing a dress (Gucci, obvi) on the December 2020 cover of Vogue. To the haters who have a personal problem with Styles’s gender-fluid dressing, we say…did you ever hear of a guy named David Bowie? What about Prince? Yep, that’s what we thought.

So, to salute his fashion icon status, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite Harry Styles fashion moments to date. You know, for posterity.

1. In Purple Paisley Alexander McQueen

On the off-chance you’re not wearing custom Gucci, it’s hard to go wrong with custom Alexander McQueen. Harry wore this shiny paisley suit with Roker boots to the 2017 Aria Awards in Sydney, Australia.

2. In Impeccably Tailored Givenchy

For his performance at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Styles rocked a robin egg blue Givenchy leisure suit designed by Clare Waight Keller. With that impeccable tailoring, we can overlook the fact that his fly was open the whole time.

3. In Cheeky Floral Custom Gucci

While touring in 2018, Styles performed at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in a flared floral Gucci suit embroidered allover with the French phrase jardin d'hiver, which translates to “winter garden.” A subtle nod to the venue, perhaps?

4. In Casual-Chic Sheep by Lanvin (and Gucci)

The shirt, boots and trousers were, you guessed it, Gucci. The knit sweater vest? Lanvin, and we’d like one for our closet, please.

5. In ’70s Gucci Bellbottoms

After appearing on BBC Radio 2 in Feburary 2020, Styles stopped to take a few selfies with his fans while wearing a Bode jacket, enviable gold corduroy Gucci flares and black sneakers.

6. In Electric Blue Custom Gucci

Styles wore this cobalt blue velvet number (by Gucci, of course) while introducing fellow fashion icon Stevie Nicks at the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.

7. In Sheer Custom Gucci

As a co-chair at the 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion, the Fine Line singer wore—wait for it—custom Gucci. He accessorized the sheer look with a single pearl in his ear, which he had pierced just for the occasion (as one does).

8. Is It Gucci?

Most recently, Styles wore a fresh-off-the-runway Gucci Fall Winter look to the 2020 Brit Awards red carpet. He paired the dark brown wool jacket and pants, embroidered Peter Pan collared shirt, lilac sweater and Mary Janes with a matching lavender manicure.

9. Yes, It's Gucci

Not to be outdone by his own red carpet lewks, Styles wore a custom Gucci ivory lace shirt, matching high-waisted trousers and lace gloves while performing at the 2020 BRIT awards.

10. Gucc—Nope, It’s Marc Jacobs

We didn’t think anyone could pull off a canary yellow suit. Then Styles proved us wrong wearing this three-piece Marc Jacobs design to the 2020 Brit Awards to round out his three outfits of the night.

11. Again, In Head-to-Toe Gucci

During a March 2020 visit to the SiriusXM studios in New York City, Styles once again brought the Gucci wearing a combination of runway and custom items from the fashion house’s Fall 2020 collection, along with the slightest hint of a burgeoning mustache (and that iconic pearl necklace). We approve.

12. In ’80s-Inspired Gucci

For a February 2020 performance on the Today show, Styles rocked out in a very ’80s pastel pink blazer, eggplant high-waisted wide-legged trousers, blue button-down, black-and-white-polka-dot tie and white patent-leather loafers. Of course, every piece was Gucci, because Styles is fancy like that (he also has a contract with the fashion house, which explains a lot).
