Betham ligament injury the price of Clermont's win

Peter Betham scored in Clermont's win at Racing but injured a knee and will miss six weeks

Clermont back Peter Betham is out of action for six weeks after hurting his right knee as his team thumped big-money Racing 92 on their own turf this weekend.

The former Waratahs man scored his third try two games into the new season in the 40-17 weekend romp and finished the game before complaining about the pain.

"He had an x-ray and there's ligament damage which rules him out for six weeks, it takes time for these things to heal," Clermont said.

Alivereti Raka twisted his ankle in Clermont's first game a 67-23 win over Agen, leaving the club short of options on the wing.
