Betty Sun: There will be no Zhen Huan in Mi Yue!

6 Jan – Having played the titular role in "The Legend of Zhen Huan" (also known as "Empresses in the Palace") in 2011, and now the titular character of the upcoming series "The Legend of Miyue", Chinese actress Betty Sun Li hopes that the two characters will not be compared to each other.

As reported on Tencent Entertainment, the actress, who is playing the role Mi Yue of the Warring Period States (who later became the Empress Dowager of Xuan) in the upcoming series, stated that there is a huge difference between the character and her previous role, Zhen Huan.

"The pressure is even bigger to play Mi Yue," said Betty. "There is a lot of expectation from the audience since the previous series was such a success."

The actress stated that in order to distinguish between the two roles, she is particularly strict about the details.

"Even if there is a little overlap with the details, I would ask for a change of script," she said.

"Yue Mi begins as a struggling princess in the Warring States Period to a woman who has a strong influence in the Qin military power and politics. If there is no Empress Xuan, perhaps the Qin Dynasty would not be able to expand its dominion," said director Zheng Xiaolong.

The TV series is expected to enter post-production after the Lunar New Year, and is scheduled for broadcast in December this year.

The series tells the story of Mi Yue (Sun Li), whose life falls to chaos after the King's demise and her mother's removal from the palace by the Queen of Chu.

Mi Yue later became a consort of the King of Qin, and later became the first empress dowager in history when her son becomes the next king of Qin.
