MANILA, Philippines — As the fire prevention month ends this March, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) boasts the success of its fire safety awareness campaign.
From January to March this year, more than two thousand fire incidents have been recorded by the agency throughout the country.
The number is down by 57 percent compared to the first quarter of last year with over six thousand incidents.
BFP Chief Dir. Bobby Barbuelo said, “Tingin natin mas namulat at mas naintindihan ng ating mga mamamayan ang kahalagahan ng pag-iingat sa sunog.”
(We see that the people now are more aware of the importance of fire prevention.)
Alongside this, the bureau thanks and recognizes its partner organizations who actively support its campaign.
Among them is UNTV News and Rescue.
“BFP and UNTV have been long-term partners… fortunately nabigyan nila tayo ng pagkakataon na personally, makapagtrain tayo doon and ‘yung ating mga responders and also yung ating mga firefighters to become competent firefighter,” UNTV rescuer and firefighter Angelo Dela Paz said, who received the recognition in behalf of.
(BFP and UNTV have been long-term partners. Fortunately, they have given us an opportunity to personally train with them. These include our responders and also our firefighters in order for them to become competent.)
UNTV assures to continue supporting the agency’s programs that aim to help the people.
“Of course, nagpapasalamat tayo, unang-una sa Panginoon na binigyan tayo ng recognition ng Bureau of Fire Protection… katulad naman ng sinasabi sa atin ni Kuya [Daniel Razon] and Brother Eli [Soriano] na may parangal man o wala, patuloy ang public service ng UNTV,” Dela Paz said.
(Of course, we thank the Lord, first of all, for the recognition given by the Bureau of Fire Protection… just like what Kuya [Daniel Razon] and Brother Eli [Soriano] say, UNTV will continue to provide public service with or without award.)
Outstanding firefighters were also recognized at the culmination of the fire prevention month.
Meanwhile, the agency is asking for the cooperation of the public in achieving a fire-free nation. — Leslie Longboen | UNTV News & Rescue
