Billions star Dan Soder has hinted that the show will end with its upcoming seventh season.

The show's next season is already gearing up to be a big one, with Damian Lewis set to return as Bobby Axelrod after the character's departure in season 5.

However, Soder, who plays Dudley Mafee, appears to have accidentally revealed that the next set of episodes will be the series' last.

“Season seven, the final season of Billions, is on its way," he said on NBC Sports Chicago's Football Night. "Am I not supposed to say that? I don't know if I'm supposed to say that."

The synopsis for season 7 was previously revealed, and reads: "In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads.

"Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world."

Axelrod was last seen fleeing to Switzerland to avoid prosecution by a team led by United States Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), leaving his business empire to former rival Mike Prince (Corey Stoll). Lewis is expected to appear in around half of the upcoming episodes.

The next season is expected to premiere on Showtime later this year, with filming already beginning. The seventh season of Billions was announced back in early 2022, with the sixth season wrapping up back in April last year.

The series focuses on hedge fund manager Axelrod and his accumulation of wealth, which frequently crosses into the illegal, as he is pursued by Rhoades, who wants to prosecute him for his misdeeds.

Billions airs on Showtime in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
