Black Man Goes Limp After LAPD Officer Shoves Him to Ground During Lakers Championship Celebrations

A Los Angles Police Department officer was seen pushing a black man to the ground after peaceful celebrations following the Los Angles Lakers’ NBA championship win turned rowdy on October 11.

Lexis-Olivier Ray recorded this footage, and originally posted it to Twitter. The footage shows a man in yellow shorts approaching a line of armored police officers walking down Flower Street before one of the police officers pushes him to the ground and he goes limp. Multiple people quickly rushed to the mans side and attempted to rouse him, the video shows. Ray told Storyful the man appeared to regain consciousness a short time later.

LAPD published a news release declaring the post-championship celebrations an “unlawful assembly,” after individuals in the crowd, “began throwing glass bottles, rocks, and other projectiles at officers.”

LAPD reported 76 individuals were arrested and said 3 individuals were, “injured by less-lethal munitions fired by our officers.”

“Eight police officers were also injured and received medical treatment. More than 30 buildings and establishments were damaged by the crowd, as well as a city MTA bus,” the LAPD said.
