Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now the most-watched Marvel premiere on Disney+.

While Disney did not release viewing figures for the film, it said in a press release that Wakanda Forever was the most watched Marvel premiere around the world, based on hours viewed over its first five days on the platform. It launched on Disney+ on 1 February.

Wakanda Forever has seen a quick transition to the smaller screen after premiering in cinemas on 11 November.

During its cinema run, Wakanda Forever grossed $842 million worldwide to become the sixth most successful film of 2022 but well short of its predecessor's haul of over $1billion.

Wakanda Forever has also been nominated for five Academy Awards including Angela Bassett for Best Supporting Actress. With the nomination, Bassett becomes the first actor to be Oscar-nominated for a performance in a Marvel film.

Bassett has already won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Ramonda in Wakanda Forever.

The superhero sequel follows the aftermath of King T'Challa's death and sees his sister Shuri take on the mantle of Black Panther to battle their enemies including the underwater villain Namor.
