Reigning Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) world champions Blacklist International announced on Saturday (9 January) that star midlaner Johnmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna and jungler Danerie "Wise" Del Rosario will be skipping Season 9 of the MLBB Pro League (MPL) Philippines, as they will be taking a break from competitive play.

In a post on their official Facebook page on Sunday (9 Jan), Blacklist International said that OhMyV33nus and Wise's decision to skip the upcoming ninth season of MPL PH was "mutually agreed" upon by the two players and the team's management.

"Both the players and the management agreed that this is the perfect time to take their much-needed break that will better equip them for another run in season 10 and a chance to defend our world championship title," said Blacklist International.

The duo of OhMyV33nus and Wise, also affectionately referred to as "V33Wise," have been instrumental in Blacklist International's historic run of dominance in 2021.

V33Wise led Blacklist International to back-to-back MPL PH championships in Season 7 in May 2021 then Season 8 in October. The duo also helped the team earn second place finishes in the 2021 MLBB Southeast Asia Cup in June and the ONE Esports MPL Invitational in November last year.

The V33Wise duo continued to fuel Blacklist International's dominance en route to being crowned as the new MLBB world champions in the M3 World Championship last December.

Blacklist International had a strong start to the M3 World Championship with a clean sweep of Group A in the Group Stage, they fell victim to a massive 3-2 upset from North America's BloodThirstyKings (BTK) in the first round of the Playoff upper bracket.

Blacklist International were able to right the ship after getting upset and went on a dominant run in the lower bracket. The back-to-back MPL PH champions started by knocking out tournament favourites ONIC Esports, then scoring three-straight sweeps over Keyd Stars, RRQ Hoshi, and EVOS SG.

Blacklist International then avenged their previous loss to BTK by defeating the North Americans, 3-1, in a revenge match at the lower bracket finals to advance to the M3 World Championship's all-Filipino grand finals against ONIC PH.

With all the momentum in the world behind them, Blacklist International dominated ONIC PH in four-straight stomps to be crowned as the new MLBB world champions.

After such a dominant run, Blacklist International said that both OhMyV33nus and Wise have earned the right to a well-deserved break and use it "to pursue personal goals and spend more quality time with their families."

"The V33Wise tandem has nothing left to prove to our organization as they have exceeded all our expectations in their first year in Blacklist International," added Blacklist International.

While the V33Wise duo will be away from competition, they will remain under the management of Tier One Entertainment, the esports and gaming talent agency that runs Blacklist International.

Blacklist International is expected to announce the replacements for OhMyV33nus and Wise in the coming weeks as MPL PH readies to begin its ninth season in mid-February.
