We've been (im)patiently waiting for news of Blake Lively's return to the big screen for a full three years now. The 35-year-old actress, who is currently expecting her fourth child with husband Ryan Reynolds, last held the leading role in 2020's The Rhythm Section – and finally, our wishes have been granted.

Per Deadline, Lively has been confirmed to have landed a new role in a film adaptation of It Ends With Us – the 2016 novel by Colleen Hoover that has taken TikTok's popular #BookTok world by storm. The New York Times best-selling book tells the story of a Lily Bloom, a young woman who moves to Boston to start a new life and open a flower shop, while navigating new love and an old flame who comes back into her life.

The Gossip Girl star will play the lead character Lily, starring alongside Justin Baldoni (of Jane The Virgin fame) who is also slated to direct the film – and is rumoured to be playing her principal love interest, a doctor named Ryle Kincaid. Further details are yet to emerge and the film is still in very early stages of development, but the internet is already hotly debating which other stars might come on board – namely to take up the role of Lily's first love, Atlas.

The news comes as Lively was also recently confirmed to be starring in the upcoming sequel to 2018 Netflix hit A Simple Favor alongside Anna Kendrick, but a release date is still under wraps.
