U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken toured a Ukrainian drone manufacturing facility while visiting Ukraine, Digital Transformation Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, reported on Twitter.

"We’ve visited a drone production facility," Fedorov wrote.

"A historic visit for our team and Ukrainian defense tech manufacturers."

The U.S. delegation observed Ukrainian innovations being produced, including FPV drones and strike copters, he said.

Ukrainian drone production

About 200 companies are involved in drone production in Ukraine, Fedorov said in November 2023.

Ukraine produces the vast majority of drones used at the front, ranging from the smallest and most affordable FPV drones to long-range counterparts of Shahed drones, Strategic Industries Minister, Oleksandr Kamyshin, said in December 2023.

Ukraine will produce one million drones for its defense forces in 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Dec. 19, 2023.

Ukraine was already manufacturing equivalents of Iran's Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones used by Russian forces, Kamyshin reported in February 2024.

Ukraine's production capacity for these drones matches those of Russia.

Ukraine also mass produces UAVs equivalent to Russia's Lancent strike drones, which have a range of 40 kilometers.

Ukrainian engineers have also developed a new reconnaissance drone named WarDog, he said on April 4.
