Blogger Han Hui Hui to appeal against $3,100 fine over protest

Blogger Han Hui Hui was fined $3,100 for her part in disrupting a charity event for special needs children by organising a rowdy protest without approval.
Han, 24, held a Return Our CPF rally with six other co-accused while the YMCA Proms@The Park 2014 carnival was also taking place at Hong Lim Park on 27 September 2014 .
Appearing before District Judge Chay Yuan Fatt on Monday (27 June), Han and two of her co-accused, Low Wai Choo, 56, and Koh Yew Beng, 61, were found guilty of causing a public nuisance.
Both Koh and Low were fined $450 each. Han, who claimed trial, said she would be appealing against her conviction and sentence, according to media reports.
For disrupting the event and causing a public nuisance, the trio could have been fined up to $1,000 each. For organising a protest without prior approval, Han could have been fined up to $5,000.
Blogger Roy Ngerng, 33, and Chua Siew Leng, 43, who were also charged over the protest, both pleaded guilty and were fined $1,900 and $300, respectively, in October last year.
