Flickr photo of the day: Canals of Bangkok

“Tour canals in Bangkok. Check.” Actually, photographer Mark Fischer snapped the photo at a relatively slow shutter speed making the boat appear to be speeding.

Once known as “Venice of the East,” Bangkok, Thailand, was once laced with canals. Today all that are left are in the Thonburi District and there is a bustling tour boat business to scoot tourists along the Chao Phraya River and throughout the canals. Of notable interest are Wat Arun and Wat Prayoon.
