Halifax woman proves to be an inspiration after gym video goes viral

A gym enthusiast from Halifax has inspired countless people around the world with her skill and dedication – without even trying to.

Lindsay Hilton, who was born without full arms or legs, doesn’t let it deter her from crushing it at the gym whenever she goes.

Hilton asked her gym, CrossFit OnSide, to take a video of her during her workout to check her form, reports Metro News.

She knew that the owners might choose to share it online, but in no way expected the response she got. The video of her has since been seen over 6.3 million times and has racked up over 60,000 shares.

“It’s kind of crazy… I definitely wasn’t expecting that many people to see me do that workout,” she said.

The top comments on the post show people asking for more videos of Hilton, with one even thanking her for “melting” his depression away after being down about his injury.

Hilton’s drive, she said, stems from her parents treating her the exact same as her brother and sister.

“They never let me get out of things or give up on anything,” she told Global News. Her parents treated her the same as “any other kid.”

“At first people would kind of be like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing,’” fitness trainer Jenny Jeffrey told the news outlet, touching on when Hilton first joined the gym a few months ago. “But after a while she’s just another member. She’s just like anyone else. She comes in and does what everyone else does.”

And although Hilton finds it a little surprising to hear people tell her that she’s inspiring because she thinks her form is “not awesome,” she told Metro News that she hopes it helps young people with missing limbs or disabilities to think “I can do that as well.”
