Members-only supercar club offers widest range of cars

It might seem like another supercar rental business, but Gran Superdrive is actually a supercar membership club -- the first of its kind in Singapore.

It launched Saturday with a fleet of 12 supercars including the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Maserati -- members of Gran Superdrive will have access to these cars for their usage.

This is the widest and youngest fleet of high-performance cars in Singapore available for rental.

But not just anyone can rent these babies. Membership fees start from S$10,000, with maximum bonus credits worth 60 per cent of this fee.

For example, a $100,000 (VIP tier) membership will entitle the member to $160,000 of credits which he can use to take out the supercars.

Rental rates for these supercars will be discounted -- members can hire a Lamborghini for a day at just $2,500, which is $300 to $500 cheaper compared to other exotic car rental companies.

Besides getting access to these supercars, members will also get invites to exclusive weekly gatherings at premium clubs and other networking opportunities.

They will also receive special rates and discounts for the purchase of new or pre-owned imported supercars.

Essentially, there are three main attractions to Gran Superdrive, said founder Henry Goh – a wide range of supercars, feasible and affordable rates and the social aspect of networking and community building.

“Operating costs for such a fleet of supercars are substantial, but it’s about bringing joy to people and someone has to try. The focus is to bring about a community rather than just pushing out supercars and trying to get people to take them out,” said Henry.

Although the official launch happened on Saturday, Gran Superdrive had already received overwhelming interest from early bird sign-up drives. For the initial wave, membership is limited to just 100.

The target audience for membership is the upper class.

“Our members may already have a supercar, but want to try other models for the experience or to help with their next supercar buying decision. We can even offer them special discounts and import the cars for them. Then there might also be members who do not own supercars but want the occasional experience,” Henry elaborated.

All 12 cars are owned by the company and under fleet insurance -- this proves its commitment to stay the course. A third of these 12 cars are brand new, including the Jaguar F-Type, the Lotus Evora and the Porsche Boxster S 2013 edition.

Moving forward, Gran Superdrive plans to keep expanding the fleet by bringing in rare cars and being the first in Singapore to have these cars, so as to offer their members the special privilege of driving them.

“We want to try and bring in more exotic cars, and be the first to have them on the roads here if possible,” Henry said.
