The Dugout – Sir Alex Ferguson names Law as hero

Reposted from Yahoo! UK Sport, by Alex Chick

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has named Denis Law, Muhammad Ali and John F Kennedy among the people he most admires.

Speaking to Eurosport-Yahoo!, Sir Alex said Law was his hero growing up, as the pugnacious centre-forward epitomised everything good about Scottish football.

Sir Alex also revealed the lengths to which he went to see Ali fight, watching his bouts live at the cinema at three or four in the morning.

JFK received praise for his handling of a uniquely challenging period of US history, while Frank Sinatra landed an invitation to Sir Alex's fantasy dinner party.

The Scottish trade unionist Jimmy Reid, who shares his home town of Govan in Glasgow, also emerged as one of Sir Alex's heroes.

Reid is hailed as one of the greatest orators of all time, and Sir Alex was present at his funeral in 2010.

We will publish an in-depth exclusive interview with Sir Alex Ferguson on Friday in which he discusses Paul Scholes's return, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's managerial success and pressures associated with modern day management.
