Wayne Rooney’s Wife Says“Tough Times” Behind Them, Cavani Visits Zoo

The wife of Man United and England star, Wayne Rooney, has admitted that “times have been tough” in the past as they maintain a family life in the spotlight.

Although their relationship was rocked by cheating allegations and sex scandals in the past, Coleen Rooney, 29, has devotedly stood by her husband.

In 2004, Rooney captured visiting a backstreet brothel and was famously forced to reconcile with his fiancee over allegations that he had been with a prostitute while she was pregnant with their first child in 2010.

The player later made a public apology, although the damage had already been done and pictures of the incident were splashed all over the news.

However, Coleen has said that she now puts the incident behind them and is grateful for the lessons learnt.

“There is no secret. We’ve had our ups and downs and it’s been tough at times but we’ve had so many happy ones too. It’s just about being as strong individually as we are together and that’s all that can happen in a relationship. Also, now that we have two kids, we make sure that we have time together,” she said.

“We make sure that one night a week we go out for dinner or go to the cinema or something so that we have time for each other. When we had Klay we found that we really had no time at all but then we made sure that we had that one day a week together.”

NORMAL PEOPLE

The couple have been dating since she was 16, but it’s only been the last decade where they have seen their stardom skyrocketing to new heights. However, Coleen insisted that they’re still the same people they were.

“We’re older and a bit wiser now,” she said. “But we’ve still got the same friends that go out with and we go back to the hometown (in Liverpool) where we grew up regularly. We’ve grown together and we’re older but I guess now we’re just fortunate to be able to do more now than we used to. Now we just love to take everyone with us when we do it and share it with our friends and that’s what we love about it.’

Coleen, who describes her family as ‘pretty normal’ but very 'fortunate’, says the boys are just starting to understand that their father is a famous personality in England.

She explained that even though her youngest shouts 'daddy’ at the TV when Wayne’s playing away, the tough part is when he’s not there.

"He’s normally only away one day a week but Wayne’s away quite a lot when he’s on International duties (with England). I’ve got a great family behind me and Wayne’s family too so we’ve always got people around us - we’re not just on our own,” she said.

CAVANI HEADS TO THE ZOO AFTER PSG DEFEAT

PSG striker Edinson Cavani treated himself to a day out at the zoo this week after the French side’s elimination in the Champions League.

Cavani, who has been linked with a move to Man United in the summer, posed for pictures with goats, bears and perhaps found solace in paying a visit to his fellow South American llamas.

The 28-year-old has struggled in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time in the French capital, and continued to toil at the Camp Nou, as Laurent Blanc’s side went down to a 2-0 second-leg defeat.

The former Napoli forward has registered 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side this season in all competitions, but it hasn’t stopped the pedigree of the £55million ($112 million) signing being questioned by the national media.

Cavani has expressed his desire to stay at the Paris club for the duration of his contract.

However, United manager Louis van Gaal is looking at the Uruguayan closely after not expecting to take up the option of signing Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal.
