Peace and serenity is the name of the game at Pasir Ris, situated all the way to Singapore's extreme east.

Part of District 18, Pasir Ris is cordoned off by Serangoon Reservoir, Tampines Expressway, and Loyang Avenue. To the north of Pasir Ris are the smaller islands of Pulau Ketam and Pulau Ubin.

The estate can be further divided into three areas: Loyang (on the east end of Pasir Ris), Central, and Elias (west).

Live
Pasir Ris is a well-planned estate with ample public transportation and lifestyle facilities. Large herds of Housing Board (HDB) flats are generously peppered with landed homes and condominiums.

A bevy of schools from primary to tertiary levels are available, making the location a great choice for young families.

As for recreational facilities, one crowd-puller is NTUC's Downtown East—a massive multi-purpose destination that houses resort chalets, the Wild Wild Wet and Escape theme parks. Meanwhile, nature lovers will relish the Pasir Ris Town Park, which boasts a park connector, a playground, and fishing pond.

Pop over to the Changi Golf and Country Club for a round on the fairway, or Changi Beach Park for a leisurely afternoon picnic.

Eat
White Sands Shopping Centre covers the usual fast food joints (Subway, Burger King), cafes (Oldtown White Coffee, Cottage Pies Café), and moderately priced restaurants (The Manhattan Fish Market, Sakae Sushi).

Try out the gems at Downtown East, including The Jellyhearts, Yam's Kitchen and Yumen Heart.

Nearby Changi Village Hawker Centre boasts nasi lemak, carrot cake and fried wonton stalls that have gained popularity over time. Over at neighbouring Tampines, Ikea Tampines has also grown a fanbase hungry for its hotdogs and Swedish meatballs.

Drink
A good number of food outlets in Pasir Ris cater to beer lovers. Buddy Hoagies at Downtown East provides a casual setting perfect for an after-work beer with friends or colleagues, while Soul Out at Pasir Ris Farmway 1 has received raving reviews for dishes that pair well with a pitcher of beer.

Shop
Pasir Ris offers a handful of malls like Loyang Point, Elias Mall, and E!Hub Shopping Mall. However, most of these are small-scale and only cater daily necessities. The only major shopping complex in the area is White Sands Shopping Centre, which has a decent array of offerings, including Eu Yan Sang, VideoEzy and Hush Puppies.

Shoppers can drop by Tampines—just one MRT stop away—which is dominated by several major malls.

Transport
Pasir Ris is privy to what may be the highest number of transport modes in Singapore.

Perhaps to make up for its sheer distance from the Central town area, it flaunts a well-connected bus network, as well as the presence of the Pasir Ris MRT.

Apart from the basics, its close proximity to Changi means Pasir Ris residents need minimal travelling time to reach the Changi International Airport and the Changi Ferry Terminal.
