Where to shop in Phnom Penh

By FlipNomad for Yahoo! Travel

Phnom Penh is not known in the world as a shopping Mecca in comparison to the capital city of its neighbour, Thailand. But nevertheless, it still offers travellers a lot of great deals when it comes to a variety of products. Here are some places that I recommend if you want to shop in Phnom Penh:

Central Market

Locally known as Phsar Thmey, Central Market is a historic and architecturally interesting market that most tourists never miss in Phnom Penh. This is a great place to buy a variety of items such as clothes, souvenirs, fresh flowers, bags etc. Around the central markets are shops offering great deals on the latest gadgets including smart phones, tablets and cameras.

Russian Market

This is the best market to visit if you want to buy souvenir items. It has a wide selection of local artworks made by Cambodian artisans such as paintings, sculptures and more.

Sorya Mall

Sorya Mall is just a stone throw away from Central Market. It has a supermarket on the ground floor and a variety of shops selling clothes, shoes and gadgets. The best shop to visit is City Mall on the 4th floor. It has great deals on clothes, travel gear and luggage.

Sovannah Mall

The products that can be found here is similar to what you can find in Sorya. Sovannah is quite near the Russian Market.

City Mall

City Mall is near the Olympic Stadium and has the same offerings with Sorya and Sovannah.

Lucky Mall

If you're looking for western branded clothes such as Levi's then this mall is for you.

Night Market (along Sisowath Quay)

Wide selections of souvenir shirts and other items.

Sisowath Quay

Take a walk along Sisowath Quay and you'll find small shops selling a variety of items such as Cambodian silk, artworks etc.

Aside from the above mentioned places, you could also visit Street 178. It is known as the Art Street and it's the best place to visit if you're looking for Cambodian art pieces.
