Da Vinci: Shaping the Future is a major exhibition which explores the life, work, and legacy of history’s foremost ArtScientist– Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition presents 26 original pages of the Codex Atlanticus, da Vinci’s largest notebook, which collects together some of his most important drawings and writings. These masterpieces have travelled to Singapore from one of the world’s great Renaissance museums, Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy.Working with the Ambrosiana in association with the Fondazione Cardinale Federico Borromeo, ArtScience Museum has curated a groundbreaking exhibition that highlights the interlinking worlds of art and science through five key domains of da Vinci’s works : mathematics, natural sciences, technology, architecture and music.

On display at the exhibition are five contemporary art installations, including three new commissions, by five international and local artists, namely Donna Ong (Singapore), WY-TO (Singapore), Semiconductor (United Kingdom), Luke Jerram (United Kingdom) and Conrad Shawcross (United Kingdom). Drawing inspiration from da Vinci’s work, these art installations give visitors new insights into da Vinci’s ideas and processes, and reveal how strikingly resonant his thinking is today.

Over the course of the exhibition’s six-month run at ArtScience Museum, three of the paintings and 13 pages of the Codex Atlanticus will be swapped at the three-month mark.

The exhibition is now open to the public until May 2015.
