#32 Take in as much of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas as you can

This UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yunnan Province, China covers 1.7 million hectares.

It is made up of lakes, meadows, mountains, gorges, glaciers and forests – so you can just imagine how scenic and spectacular it can be.

It includes parts of the rivers Yangtze, Lacang and Nujiang, which do run parallel to one another and flow through mountains.

Given its size, four seasons and natural wonders, it is home to one of the most biodiverse and least disturbed ecosystems in the world, as well as different ethnic groups.

To get the best views, travel to Lijiang – a quaint town that is fast becoming a tourist destination – then join a tour or hire a car to the Meili Snow Mountains or the Tiger Leaping Gorge.
