#39 Hike in Grampians National Park, Australia

Did you know that a major bushfire, ignited by lightning, destroyed almost 50 per cent of the Grampians in 2006?

Thankfully, regeneration occurred within the same year. A national park in Victoria, Australia, the Grampians is famed for its series of five sandstone ridges as well as thundering waterfalls.

Visit during spring — between August and October — and you’ll be rewarded with colourful spring wildflower displays.

Halls Gap, or Budja Budja, is the largest service town in the area.

There, you can find out more about the park and its aboriginal culture at Brambuk — The National Park and Cultural Centre.
