#29 Ride a hot air ballon over Bagan

Instead of squeezing with the hordes of tourists at Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, why not take the road less traveled to Bagan in Myanmar instead?

This ancient city, which is flanked by the Ayeyarwady River, is home to over 2,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and stupas. Drink in the sumptuous view from the top by taking a hot air balloon ride (www.facebook.com/pages/Balloons-over-Bagan/) or rent a bike to meander through the sandy, arid grasslands.

Getting to Bagan from Yangon is fairly straightforward, with various modes of transport available, from plane to bus and ferry.
