Alleged CCTV footage of MH370 pilots going through boarding checks circulated

A video purportedly showing leaked CCTV footage of the two pilots of the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner has been making its rounds online.

While it is unclear who posted the clip first, it appears that SAYS, a social news site based in Malaysia, was among the first to post it on their YouTube channel on 10 March.

The 14-second clip, which has since garnered close to 40,000 views since being posted, shows Captain Zaharie Shah, 53, followed by co-pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid, 27, going through a brief security check at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) before boarding flight MH370.

About an hour after taking off on Saturday 8 March at 12:41 am, contact with the plane was lost and no trace has since been found.

Investigations focusing on the two pilots intensified after Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak announced during a press conference on Saturday last week (15 March) that investigators have concluded the plane to be “hijacked”. He also said that the Malaysian authorities have a “high degree of certainty” that the plane’s movement was consistent with the “deliberate action“ by someone on the plane.

On Sunday, Malaysian police searched the homes of both of the pilots. Subsequently, a flight simulator belonging to Zaharie was taken away for examination.
