Karpal Singh, Malaysian political veteran, dies in road accident

Malaysian political veteran Karpal Singh died in a car accident on Thursday morning, leaving behind his wife, five children and four grandchildren.

One of his sons, Ramkarpal, was injured along with the driver of the car, and he is believed to have died on the spot alongside his longtime assistant Michael Cornelius Selvam Vellu. The Toyota Alphard he was in is believed to have lost control after colliding with a lorry.

Divers search for hundreds missing after Korean ferry accident

Rescuers are continuing the search for hundreds of people, most of them teenaged schoolchildren, who are missing after a South Korean ferry capsized on Wednesday.
