Singapore is closely monitoring the latest developments of avian influenza A/H7N9 in the city-state after Malaysia’s health ministry reported its first imported human case in Kota Kinabalu.

According to a statement on Thursday, the health risk in Singapore remains low as “the characteristics of H7N9 in human infections have not changed”.

There is currently no evidence of “sustained human-to-human transmission” of the virus, said Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH).

South Korea's LG Electronics unveiled a revamped version of its large-screen smartphone G Pro on Thursday, hoping it will help propel the company to the No. 3 spot in global smartphone sales this year.

LG Electronics, currently ranked No. 4, is seeking to move past Huawei Technologies Co Ltd as well as Lenovo Group which recently agreed to buy Google Inc's Motorola handset division for $2.9 billion.

Deadly ice storm freezes winter-weary US

A deadly ice storm stranded scores of people on slick roads and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of US homes as winter-weary Americans dug in against Mother Nature's latest blow.

More than 3,700 flights due to take off Thursday were cancelled across the United States because of the wintry blast, including well over half of flights at the busiest US airport, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International, airline monitors said.

Yevgeny Plushenko, Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin bring their star powers to bear on the Winter Olympics on Thursday while veteran biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen targets a record 13th medal.

Double Olympic gold medallist Plushenko, 31, is amongs the favourites as the men's figure skating short programme gets underway, but he faces competition from three-time world champion Patrick Chan, and Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu.

Plushenko is looking to become the most medalled man in Olympic figure skating history while Chan, 23, and Hanyu, 19, could become the first men from their countries to win the men's title.

Now the balance is shifting and there are increasing numbers of transactions involving sellers accepting offers below, and in some cases significantly below, the valuation price of their property.
