Malaysia mulls third link bridge to Singapore

Malaysia is mulling a new bridge between Johor and Singapore, which might link up the eastern side of Johor to Changi in Singapore. If it becomes a reality, it will be the third link between the countries, after the Causeway and the Tanjung Kupang-Tuas Second Link. Both existing bridges see heavy traffic flow.

Four men found guilty in landmark Delhi gang rape trial

Four men were found guilty for the fatal gang rape of a young woman on a bus in New Delhi and all four could be hanged for the murder conviction. The crime had shaken the country, forcing Indians to confront the issue of rampant sexual violence. Arguments on sentencing are due to begin on Wednesday.

NUS is tops in Asia in QS world university rankings, NTU climbs six spots globally

National University of Singapore (NUS) tops the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) university rankings for Asia this year. The country's oldest university also shifted up one spot in global rankings to 24th in the world, from 25th last year. Meanwhile, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) now sits at 41st place globally as compared to 47th last year.

The Happiest Country in The World Is ...

A new study suggests that the happiest people in the world live in Scandinavia, with Denmark being the happiest country, followed by Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Canada. Singapore stands at number 30, according to the list.

Nadal wins second US Open, 13th Grand Slam title

Rafael Nadal claimed his second US Open title and 13th Grand Slam crown when he defeated world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, on Monday. His win earned him a total of $3.6 million, which takes his career earnings through the $60 million mark, edging him closer to Roger Federer's record of 17 majors.
