The Singapore Airshow at the Changi Convention Centre got underway on Tuesday, with the first major deal being an S$11.6 billion order by Vietnam’s low-cost airline, VietJetAir, for 90 A320 jets from Airbus.

Among the highlights on the first day — the new wide-wing Airbus A350 which makes its first Asia appearance and of course the usual crowd-pleasing aerial displays from Singapore's very own RSAF Black Knights.

An exposé by China's state broadcaster on rampant prostitution in the country's "sex capital" of Dongguan triggered a huge police operation -- as well as a surprising online backlash.

The police raid, which took place hours after the expose on China Central Television (CCTV) on Sunday, involved 6,000 police officers raiding hundreds of hotels, saunas and KTVs in the city located in the southern province of Guangdong.

However, many netizens also criticised the show for not addressing the root cause of the problem. Chinese Web users -- who typically post images of red candles online to show their sympathy for victims of natural disasters — also shared images of red condom-shaped candles Tuesday in the wake of the Dongguan report.

No offence was committed by the bus driver at the centre of the Little India riot that occurred on 8 December last year, said the Attorney-General’s Chambers on Tuesday.

In a statement, AGC spokespersons said no further action will be taken against Lee Kim Huat, also known as Lim Hai Tiong, who was the bus driver that ran over Indian national Sakthivel Kumaravelu that night.

The accident resulted in Sakthivel’s death, and triggered a riot that caused the damage of 24 emergency response vehicles and left more than 40 police and SCDF officers injured.

US health officials closed down a spoof Starbucks coffee shop shortly after a TV comic revealed himself as the man behind the stunt, which drew media attention and plenty of customers.

The "Dumb Starbucks" cropped up in a Los Angeles neighborhood on Friday adorned with the signature green logo and signage of the global coffee giant, except with the word "Dumb" sitting above it.

Long lines formed outside the shop over the weekend as word of mouth and social media attracted large crowds, with some people reportedly waiting over an hour to be served.
