Yahoo Singapore understands that an Indian man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two cars, a lorry, a minibus and a motorbike were involved in the accident.

Prices of Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) rose in three categories in the bidding exercise ended Wednesday, with motorcycle prices hitting a new record high yet again.

Despite promises of a larger supply of COEs to be made available from next month, the price for motorcycle COEs hit a new record high of $4,489, up from $4,289 from the previous exercise concluded in end-March.

Fire put out at construction site in Bukit Panjang near Junction 10

Fire broke out in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at a construction site near shopping mall Junction 10, formerly known as Ten Mile Junction, in Bukit Panjang.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the incident at 2:58am and subsequently deployed three fire engines, a red rhino, an ambulance and five support vehicles.

Nobody was injured from the fire, which was extinguished in 30 minutes using three water jets, according to SCDF, adding that the cause of fire is under investigation.

Certis Cisco Singapore says that an incident involving two officers and a teen fishing at a non-designated area in Bedok Reservoir could have been better managed in a more “professional and diplomatic manner”.

“Our Protection Officers are assigned to look out for people who engage in inappropriate use of the premise including fishing and endangering their lives. The 16 year old boy has been warned on several occasions not to fish in non-designated fishing areas,” the company said in a statement to Yahoo Singapore on Wednesday.

Indonesians went to the polls Wednesday in parliamentary elections expected to strengthen the main opposition and move its popular presidential candidate, Jakarta governor Joko Widodo, closer to becoming the country's next leader.

Some 186 million people are eligible to vote for around 230,000 candidates competing for about 20,000 seats in national and regional legislatures, although the most important is the vote for the lower house of the national parliament.
