Body recovered from water near Jersey's Les Minquiers reef

A body has been recovered from the water near Les Minquiers reef, States of Jersey Police said.

A local fisherman made the discovery before 12:00 BST and alerted the coastguard, the force said.

The fishing vessel recovered the body before the RNLI's St Helier all-weather lifeboat arrived on the scene.

Police said the person's identity was subject to confirmation and next of kin would be "notified accordingly".

They said the person, who was brought to shore, had been equipped with diving gear and wearing a wetsuit.

Officers would be working in close cooperation with French counterparts to conduct a thorough investigation, they added.

CROSS Corsen, the French coastguard, verified a diver had been reported missing off the north coast of Brittany on 25 March.
