The City of Montreal has lifted a preventive boil-water advisory for the Montréal-Nord borough.

However, before drinking the water again, the city says residents should turn on all cold water taps and let the water run for a few minutes.

The advisory was issued Wednesday evening. In a news release, the city said the advisory was necessary due to a water outage and a drop in pressure.

More than 80,000 residents were affected.
