New book commemorates SG50

To commemorate Singapores 50th birthday, JLL has published 50 Stories a book that profiles 50 local landmarks built over the last 50 years.

The commemorative book, which took about a year to complete, aims to provide a visual representation of Singapores urban, architectural and economic development through buildings, and highlight JLLs involvement in most of these landmarks.

Singapores transparent and open economy has successfully attracted real estate investors from around the world. The city-states unique approach to urban planning has supported its physical evolution from an industrialising city to a thriving financial centre of international repute.

Instrumental to this transformation is the Urban Redevelopment Authoritys land sales programme many of the buildings featured in this book were constructed on land sold by the government under this programme, said JLL in a statement.

Designed and produced by renowned design agency Epigram, 50 Stories also contains a message from Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan.

At JLL, these 50 buildings represent more than simply the concrete facades that line our streets. For us, buildings are our business and our passion, said Chris Fossick, JLLs Managing Director for Singapore and South East Asia.

Publishing 50 Stories is our way of paying tribute to Singapores spectacular half century of progress.

Other initiatives by JLL to commemorate SG50 include organising a special Singapore Breakfast Talk event for key corporate clients, where the firm presented what it considers as the most important policies and events that have shaped and defined Singapores real estate market in the last 50 years.

Attended by over 100 clients, the event saw a panel of distinguished experts review how the policies came about, how successful they were, and their relevance to Singapores continued success.

A Fortune 500 company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, JLL has more than 230 corporate offices in 80 countries, and a global workforce of 60,000.
