Branches Snap From Oak Tree During Freezing Weather in Texas

Oak tree branches snapped under the weight of accumulated ice during a winter storm in Austin, Texas, on February 1.

Footage filmed by Alexandra Barros Freeman captured loud crackles emitting from the trees moments before their branches broke off.

Freeman told Storyful that she had heard loud cracks in the neighborhood all day and managed to film the moment the branch fell, whilst inspecting the damage outside of her home.

National Weather Service Austin/ San Antonio reported that numerous large trees had fallen and caused power outages in the Austin metro area. Credit: Alexandra Barros Freeman via Storyful
