Brawl on Geylang Road: 10 men arrested for rioting

The police have arrested 10 men on suspicion of rioting in Geylang last Thursday (4 April) night.

According to media reports, the men were allegedly involved in a 3am brawl at a pedestrian crossing along Geylang Road, close to Lorong 27A Geylang. The suspects, aged between 18 and 34, were arrested on Friday and Saturday.

A video of the fight was posted on social media and has since gone viral. The 20-second long clip showed a large group of around 20 people shouting and shoving one another in the middle of Geylang Road.

Following investigations, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Bedok Police Division established the identities of the suspects.

If convicted of rioting, each suspect faces up to seven years’ jail and caning.
