Is lockdown not only taking a toll on your daily life but on your skin as well?
Following your skincare routine to the letter but STILL finding yourself having breakouts in those same spots? Traditional Chinese medicine may have the answer with ‘face mapping’. This ancient technique can give you clues as to what’s causing your breakouts and how to fix them from the inside out.
Breakouts across your forehead and nose means you may need to chill out. Spots here can commonly mean your body and mind is stressed out in some way or can be put down to a build up of stress over a period. This could be a signal that your body is running on overdrive and needs rest, so do yourself a favour, up the yoga and put down the midnight scrolling. Your body and your skin will thank you.
In face mapping, the cheeks are divided up into different zones within themselves. Blemishes appearing at the top of the cheek right under the eyes has been linked to issues with the kidneys (a detox might work wonders). Breakouts across the upper cheeks or along the cheekbones can be attributed to the lungs (if you smoke, just stop!) whereas, issues on the lower cheeks have been connected to the teeth and in extreme cases gum disease. Chinese medicine is also fixated with left and rights. Breakout’s only on the left cheek? It could be time to lay off the booze and give your liver a break.
JAWLINE AND CHIN
Acne across your chin is mostly regulated by our endocrine system, that’s hormone production to you and me. Sadly, hormonal blemishes are harder to rectify however, our hormones can be affected by our diet. Research has found that a high-carb, high-dairy diet can increase hormone levels so reducing intake slightly could help during this tricky time of the month.
