Top Filipino Valorant team Bren Esports on Sunday (21 February) became the first to qualify for the Valorant SEA Masters tournament, after a dominant run through the Philippines' Challenger 2 event in the Southeast Asian leg of the 2021 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT).

Bren Esports were one of four teams that topped the initial Challengers event for SEA earlier this month, alongside Oasis Gaming, Dream Fyre, and Empire Esports, and were thus directly seeded to the Philippines' Challengers 2 event. Joining them were open qualifier teams ArkAngel, Hashira, Org Not Found, and The First Order.

Bren Esports cruised through Org Not Found and Oasis Gaming to get to the grand finals where they faced off against ArkAngel, who had dispatched Dream Fyre and Hashira to get there.

The first half of game one on Ascent ended with both teams tied at six rounds apiece, but ArkAngel came out of the side switch with guns blazing to take a hard-fought 13-10 win and take the first map of the finals.

However, Bren Esports quickly answered by dominating the next two games on Haven and Icebox. Bren were in full control of both maps, taking the first half of each map with a 8-4 round advantage and conceding only one round in the second half of both games combined.

Things were much closer in game four at Bind, as ArkAngel didn't give up much ground compared to the previous two games and were only down 5-7 by halftime. However, a determined Bren Esports closed things out with a 6-3 run in the second half to take the series 3-1.

With their victory, Bren Esports claimed the first spot in the VCT's SEA Masters tournament as well as the lion's share of PH₱120,000 (or US$2,475) out of this event's PH₱210,000 (or over US$4,300) prize pool.

Meanwhile, ArkAngel will settle for PH₱50,000 (or over US$1,000) in consolation. They, along with Oasis Gaming and Hashira, will also be directly seeded to the Philippines' Challenger 3 event in early March for another shot at making it to the SEA Masters tournament.

The VCT SEA Masters tournament is set to take place between March and April and will feature eight of the best Valorant teams in Southeast Asia battling for a spot at the Valorant Champions tournament in December.

The remainder of the Challengers 2 events for Southeast Asia will take place next weekend on 26-28 February.
