Since its outbreak several months ago, COVID-19 has caused cancellations all around the world. From businesses to restaurants to sellout music festivals, the list of cancellations continues to grow—and unfortunately for antique-lovers, you can now add the Brimfield Antique Flea Market to that list. The event, which draws antique-lovers from all over the world, was cancelled to comply with social distancing orders.

In a statement posted to its website earlier today, organizers of the designer-favorite market announced that the May event, scheduled to take place between May 12th and May 17th, would be cancelled due to concerns over COVD-19. "We are very sorry to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control the Brimfield Antique Flea Markets will be closed for the May event," organizers wrote.

There's no word yet on whether Brimfield's following market dates, (July 14th to July 19th and September 8th through September 13th) will take place as planned, though organizers promise that they "will post updates for the future events as they become available."

In a separate post announcing the cancellation, Selectman Ryan Olszta writes, "The health and safety of our visitors and more importantly our towns people is of the utmost importance to us. If all goes well and this clears up, hopefully we will have a show in July." Fingers crossed!

Brimfield's statement concludes with a familiar sentiment in these trying times: "Please stay safe and healthy! We look forward to seeing you later this year."
