A male model who molested a Singaporean woman at the pickup point of a Sentosa Cove club was sentenced to 15 months probation on Wednesday (27 January).

Coker Gyles Akinkumni Jagdeesh, a 21-year-old Briton, was also ordered to remain indoors between 10pm and 6am and perform 100 hours of community service as part of his probation conditions.

His maternal uncle was required to execute a $5,000 bond to ensure his good behavior.

Coker, better known as Gyles Coker, is a Singapore permanent resident and is currently serving national service. He has appeared alongside Singaporean artiste Tabitha Nauser in her “Rules”music video .

Coker pleaded guilty in January to one count of using criminal force to molest the woman, also 21, after attending a private poolside party at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.

On the night of 18 November 2017, the victim was swimming at the club with a friend when they noticed Coker. The two joked about the victim’s friend being interested in Coker.

Both went to shower before heading to the pickup point where the friend left in a cab.

Shortly after helping two other strangers get a cab, the woman bumped into Coker, who asked her for a lighter.

The woman said she did not have one and struck up a conversation with Coker. She told Coker that her friend was interested in him and asked to take a selfie with him to show her friend.

As the two chatted, Coker placed his right arm around the woman’s shoulder and invited her to a house party. The woman declined and tried to leave but Coker commented on her body and asked if she was “horny”. He also pulled at her shirt.

As the woman backed away from Coker, the latter grabbed her right buttock and pulled her towards him, molesting her through her shirt.

Shocked and angry, the woman left the pickup point. She later texted her boyfriend and her friend about the incident. She also told her brother of the incident before lodging a police report on 20 November.

On Wednesday, District Judge Jasvender Kaur ordered that Coker undergo random urine tests as part of his probation conditions and to attend behavioural treatment.

For molest, Coker could have been jailed up to two years along with a fine, caning, or any combination of the punishments.
