Watch: Britney Spears teases new song as she vows to 'be my own cheerleader'
Britney Spears has appeared to tease new music after telling fans she is planning to be her own “cheerleader”.
The pop princess – who has plenty to celebrate after her 13-year conservatorship was finally ended this year – posted a video on Instagram of her singing.
The clip shows Spears, who has not released a new album in five years, belting out some notes in her bathroom.
It got plenty of love from fans, with one person posting in the comments section: “This just extended our lives!”
“You are the one and only legendary BRITNEY SPEARS,” said another.
“BEAUTIFUL VOICE!” wrote one admirer. “Please keep sharing your beautiful gift & soulful voice with the world.”
Fellow pop star Miley Cyrus also chimed in, posting: “#vocalbible”.
Spears’ fiancé Sam Asghari wrote: “I fn love this soo much.”
In a caption which now appears to have been deleted, Spears, 40, wrote that she had realised that she "needed to be my own cheerleader”.
Apparently referring to her family, she went on: “God knows they weren’t… so I just read up on myself.
"This is what I found: Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop icon Britney Spears is one of the most successful and celebrated entertainers in pop history with nearly 100 million records sold worldwide.”
Mum-of-two Spears' conservatorship was set up in 2008 and she has called it “demoralising and degrading”.
The 'Toxic' singer was officially freed from the guardianship in November.
Her last studio album was 'Glory', which was unveiled in 2016.
