Britney Spears to pay Kevin Federline more in child support after months-long court battle

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have made a deal.

The “Womanizer” singer and her ex-husband have argued for much of the year over the amount that Spears pays Federline in child support each month. He stated in court documents filed in May that their boys — Sean Preston, 13, and Jayden, 12 — have a much different, less lavish lifestyle when they’re staying with him than the one they enjoy at Spears’s home.

On Monday, the Blast reported that attorneys for Spears and Federline had agreed in a new, confidential deal that she would pay “thousands more” per month. Reps for Spears and Federline did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

Federline, who married Spears in 2004 and split from her in 2007, is a former backup dancer now working as a disc jockey. He has four other children from other relationships. He said in the court papers that he now earns $3,000 per month, less than he earned when he and Spears decided that she would pay the $20,000 per month that she pays currently. When they made the original agreement, Spears had just gone through a public breakdown and had handed over management of her affairs to her father as part of a conservatorship.

Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told People in May, “We think the reasonable needs for the children while they would be in Kevin’s custody is probably three times what he’s currently receiving.”

The singer argued that she already paid for private school, extracurricular activities, clothing, and other expenses for her sons.

Last month, a judge ordered Spears to pay $100,000 in Federline’s legal costs.

Even after the extra payments, Spears is incredibly wealthy. Her fortune is estimated at $56.6 million, a number boosted in part by her lucrative run of shows in Las Vegas and the “Britney Spears: Piece of Me” tour she finished Sept. 1 in England. Besides that, she’s already got an offer to duet with Christina Aguilera, if she’s into it.
