was unveiled near her hometown

to replace a wooden statue
which was set on fire on July 4
on U.S. Independence Day

"We put a statue here for a commemoration of an old statue, and that is the point. // "I think that now we fix it in this way, it can't be burnt and destroyed."
The statue stands on a 9.2-foot high wooden pillar
next to a plaque reading:
"This statue is dedicated to the eternal memory of a monument to Melania which stood in this location."
