Bruno Fernandes reveals 'very honest' view on Manchester United future after transfer claim
Bruno Fernandes has suggested he could “think about” leaving Manchester United this summer.
Recent reports have claimed it it set to be a busy transfer window at Old Trafford, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to overhaul the squad after taking control of football operations at the club.
It is believed that Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are the only players not up for sale, with United open to offers for the rest of their first-team squad after a frustrating campaign.
That would mean Fernandes’ time in Manchester could come to an end, despite the 29-year-old being named club captain at the start of the season and producing relatively consistent performances amid the team’s struggles. The Portuguese star has scored 15 goals in all competitions and provided nine assists.
His contract expires in 2026, with the club having the option to extend that by a further year, but Fernandes did not rule out the possibility of a move away from Old Trafford after this summer’s European Championship.
Fernandes told DAZN Portugal: “Obviously, it doesn’t just depend on me, does it?
"A player always has to want to be here, but at the same time, you have to want him to stay. At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides.
“I’m not thinking too much about the future, not least because, obviously, this season hasn’t been at the level I’d hoped for, either individually or collectively, so far.
“So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros because nothing will be able to take my focus away from the FA Cup final and the Euros, as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”
