Bugatti Type 35 fetches over €1.4 million at Paris auction

The 11th edition of the "Automobiles sur les Champs" auction, held Sunday, November 5, 2017, in Paris by Artcurial Motorcars, totaled almost €6 million. As expected, it is a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 that tops the list of this edition's sales, fetching €1,438,900, including fees.

As well as this exceptional race car, the auction saw several other models sell for sums close to their estimated prices, such as a magnificent Bentley Continental R with bodywork by H. J. Mulliner, which sold for €814,100.

Some surprises of the sale were the very old models, which sailed past their estimated prices. For example, a Peugeot 3.3/4 HP "vis-à-vis" from 1896 sold for €208,600, after being estimated at €60,000 to €80,000. Similarly, a Peugeot Lion 8 HP Type VC Phaéton from 1908, which sold for €46,500 after being estimated at €20,000 to €30,000.
