SEREMBAN: A policeman drowned while attempting to retrieve the cover of an ice box which fell into the sea while he was fishing off Port Dickson yesterday.
In the incident at about 10.30am, Noramirul Ashraf Rahma, 27, who was with two friends on the fishing trip near Pulau Asam Kampung Sungai Sekawang, Pasir Panjang, braved strong currents to grab the cover.
However, the Bukit Aman Special Branch policeman fell into the water and was swept away by the current.
His body was found about two hours later.
Port Dickson police deputy chief DSP Zainudin Ahmad said the victim and his two friends had arrived on Pulau Asam the night before. -- BERNAMA
