HULU SELANGOR: Family members of Mohd Iskandar Shah Abdullah are waiting to claim his body at the Kuala Kubu Bharu hospital here.

They plan to transport the body to Masjid Jamek Rantau Panjang, before burying him at Tanah Perkuburan Rantau Panjang.

Mohd Iskandar, 11, was one of eight children, aged between 10 and 13, who were fishing next to a bridge at a river in Kampung Timah SKC, Bukit Beruntung, at 5pm yesterday, when they were suddenly swept away by strong currents.

Mohd Iskandar's mother, Rohani Saleh, was walking home from a grocery store when a barber asked her whether her son had returned from the river.

"I immediately felt something was amiss.

"I last saw him yesterday morning, before going to work. I told him it was okay for him not to go to school yesterday, because then, he could take care of his grandmother.

"I didn't know he went to the river, and the next thing I heard was that he had drowned," the 42-year-old single mother said in tears.
