Burmese woman to be charged with murder of 70-year-old woman

A Burmese woman will be charged with murder, following the death of a 70-year-old Indian woman on Monday afternoon (25 June).

Police received a call at about 3.09pm on Monday, requesting assistance at a residential unit in the northwest of Singapore.

Upon arrival, the elderly woman was found lying motionless at the said location. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene at about 3.29pm.

Police have classified the case as murder.

A 24-year-old Burmese woman, who is believed to be the elderly woman’s domestic helper, has been arrested in relation to the case.

She will be charged in court on Wednesday.

Investigations are ongoing.
