Canadian women's basketball team on the brink of Olympic elimination after loss to Australia

The Canadian women's basketball team is still looking for its first victory in the Olympic tournament after a 70-65 loss to Australia on Thursday in Lille, France.

The fifth-ranked Canadians were defeated 75-54 by host France in their tournament opener on Monday.

They wrap up pool play Sunday against 12th-ranked Nigeria at 7:30 a.m. ET.

Canada could be eliminated from quarterfinal contention later Thursday if Nigeria defeats France. That game is scheduled for 11:15 a.m.
