Cardi B Deletes Election Night Video After “This Is Why Some Of Y’all States Be Getting Hurricanes” Comment Sparks Controversy
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B shared many Kamala Harris supporters’ anxiety when she tweeted “We need a Hail Mary” Tuesday night as Donald Trump started to take the lead in multiple swing states. But it was her follow-up post that sparked immediate backlash and was quickly deleted by the “WAP” singer.
It contained a brief video, captured and retweeted by others, in which Cardi B, using a face filter, says, “This is why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes.”

There was no context but the comment was made shortly after battleground North Carolina was called for Trump, joining several other hurricane-prone Southern states such as Florida and Texas, which also had been won by the Republican candidate.
The rapper remained active on social media Tuesday night. On Instagram live, she spoke about Harris.
‘I just hope she knows no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her,” she said. “Women around the world are proud of her. Women of color are proud of her.”
Cardi B had been active in the final stages of the Presidential campaign, delivering an impassioned speech about women’s rights at a Harris rally in Milwaukee earlier this month. She then got into a verbal spat with Elon Musk after he mocked her delivery.
