Carina Lau denies avoiding Maggie Cheung

29 Aug – Despite being good friends with Kenny Bee and his wife Fan Jiang, Carina Lau and husband Tony Leung were absent from the couple's Bali wedding held recently.

Their non-appearance sparked rumours that Carina was avoiding another invitee, Maggie Cheung, who reportedly had a short fling with her husband back when they were filming "In the Mood for Love" in 2000.

However, according to Mingpao News, the actress, who was spotted at a brand promotional event on 27 August, laughed at the rumours. "Why would there be such a thing? We don't have to avoid each other. Don't complicate matters."

Carina clarified that though they wanted to attend the wedding, she was unable to do so due to a work obligation in Shanghai.

However, the actress said that she and Tony will make up for the loss and treat Kenny and wife to dinner. She added that they have also sent a wedding gift to the couple, personally selected by Tony himself.
