Singapore-based P2P mobile marketplace Carousell has officially launched in Philippines, expanding its market scope to more than 14 cities that currently include Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.

The platform was first introduced to the Philippines in May this year. Carousell claims that, since then, it has experienced a 110 per cent month-over-month (MoM) growth in listings and 240 per cent MoM growth — bringing the total transactions logged in the country to over half a million.

“The Philippines is one of the hottest mobile commerce markets in Southeast Asia, due to a young and digitally-savvy population,”said Marcus Tan, Co-founder and President of Carousell. “As we consume more, there is also a pressing need to get rid of things we no longer have use for, many of which are still in good condition.”

Founded in 2012, Carousell has logged over 41 million listings. It raised U$35 million in Series B in August, then acqui-hired personal safety app Watch Over Me’s engineering and product teams a month later.
