The police on Monday reclassified the case of a dead man found in a Chinese temple in Chua Chu Kang to murder.

The case was previously classified as unnatural death.

The deceased man was identified as former temple medium Tan Poh Huat, 53. His body was discovered on Sunday morning in Lian Sing Keng temple, located on Teck Whye Lane, by a 68-year-old pest control worker Tan Kui Seng, after he saw a two-metre trail of blood leading to the body.

Tan was understood to have sustained a head injury, and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 7:09am, the SCDF said.

According to The Straits Times, Tan was unemployed and had lived in the temple for the past five years. He was also a member of the temple’s executive committee.

The ST report said that Tan was a kidney disease patient, and had been going for dialysis.
